... Hotel in Amsterdam and two other projects in the pipeline in London and Paris, Akirov is targeting Europe's major cities with his heritage concepts. “We make sure that each of our hotels focuses on the historical heritage with contemporary and innovative design while connecting the local and international communities.” To achieve this, Akirov only works with the best: both the Mamilla and the Conservatorium Hotel were created in collaboration with famed Italian designer Piero Lissoni. In Amsterdam, they extensively renovated the old music conservatory into a contemporary masterpiece. In Jerusalem, one of the most unique features of the Mamilla is architect Moshe Safdie's use of Jerusalem stone to match the surroundings. But who is Georgi Akirov, the man behind these projects? A native of Tel Aviv, he joined his father's business in 2000, shortly after collecting his MBA from Columbia University and some time on Wall Street. His experiences have helped him in the luxury hotel business and in the luxury real-estate market. Akirov is not shy to define his dream for the Alrov Luxury Group: “My dream was to build a collection of hotels that share the same vision and DNA, while each hotel has its own identity connecting it to its city and building. Making the collection happen is highly rewarding.”
